Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Emancipation Approximation: Plate 9 by Kara Walker was sold in the Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD auction at Christies in New York in March this year. The price achieved of USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,112.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kara Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Negress Notes in May last year with an auction result of USD 529,200.00 (€ 493,150.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Emancipation Approximation: Plate 9 von Kara Walker wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.112,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kara Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Negress Notes im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 529.200,00 (€ 493.150,68).
