Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work One Red, One Blue (Jenner, California) by Justine Kurland was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,468.43). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Justine Kurland - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Four Leaf Clovers (Lexington, Virginia), which sold at auction in September 2007 for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,395.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit One Red, One Blue (Jenner, California) von Justine Kurland im März 2021 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.468,43) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Justine Kurland mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Four Leaf Clovers (Lexington, Virginia) beobachtet, die im September 2007 für USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.395,53) versteigert wurde.
