In May 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Yachting in the Mediterranean by Julius Leblanc Stewart. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,312,000.00 (€ 1,872,216.37), 28% above the upper estimate. With this result, Yachting in the Mediterranean is even the most expensive work of art by Julius Leblanc Stewart that we have observed at auctions so far.
