Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Reading (La Lecture) by Julius Leblanc Stewart. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 329,600.00 (€ 256,837.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Julius Leblanc Stewart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yachting in the Mediterranean in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 2,312,000.00 (€ 1,872,216.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Reading (La Lecture) von Julius Leblanc Stewart zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 329.600,00 (€ 256.837,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Julius Leblanc Stewart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Yachting in the Mediterranean im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.312.000,00 (€ 1.872.216,37).
