Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Paisaje Urbano by Julio Alpuy was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,943.26). Admittedly, works by Julio Alpuy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Construcción en madera in September last year with an auction result of USD 81,900.00 (€ 83,716.65).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Paisaje Urbano von Julio Alpuy im November 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.943,26) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Julio Alpuy auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Construcción en madera im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 83.716,65).
