Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Constructivo by Julio Alpuy was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,891.17). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julio Alpuy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Construcción en madera in September last year with an auction result of USD 81,900.00 (€ 83,716.65).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Constructivo von Julio Alpuy im Mai 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 5.891,17) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julio Alpuy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Construcción en madera im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 83.716,65).
