This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 35,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julian Onderdonk - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bluebonnets at Dawn, North of San Antonio, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 403,200.00 (€ 375,733.86).
