This artwork by Julian Onderdonk achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Beverly Hills in October 2008. In the California, Western and American Paintings, Drawings, and Sculpture auction, the work Path Through a Field of Bluebonnets sold for USD 326,500.00 (€ 257,451.51) - well above the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Julian Onderdonk; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bluebonnets at Dawn, North of San Antonio sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 403,200.00 (€ 375,733.86).
