Auction result well in line with expectations

The work A Study of the Cenci, May Prinsep, 1870 by Julia Margaret Cameron was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in October 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,085.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julia Margaret Cameron achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir John Herschel in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 103,258.38).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit A Study of the Cenci, May Prinsep, 1870 von Julia Margaret Cameron wurde im Oktober 2019 in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.085,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julia Margaret Cameron erzielen.
