This artwork by Josiah Mcelheny achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2001. In the Contemporary (Day Sale) auction, the work History Modernized sold for USD 35,250.00 (€ 39,350.30) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Josiah Mcelheny - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work EARLY MODERNISM MIRRORED AND REFLECTED INFINITELY, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 146,500.00 (€ 101,905.95).

Für andere Arbeiten von Josiah Mcelheny mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit EARLY MODERNISM MIRRORED AND REFLECTED INFINITELY beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für USD 146.500,00 (€ 101.905,95) versteigert wurde.
