Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern Discoveries, which included the work Nocturne by Joseph Stella. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,032.00 (€ 3,634.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Stella achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tree of My Life in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 5,937,500.00 (€ 5,243,751.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern Discoveries durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nocturne von Joseph Stella zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.032,00 (€ 3.634,72) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Stella erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tree of My Life im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.937.500,00 (€ 5.243.751,66).
