Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Collector, Dealer, Connoisseur: The Vision of Richard L. Feigen, which included the work The landing place to a Temple of Victory through the Gate of Minerva by Joseph Gandy. Here, the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 63,000.00 (€ 54,536.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Gandy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Design for Waterloo Palace, the proposed town residence of the Duke of Wellington, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 118,100.00 (€ 150,228.36).
