Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A view of London and the river Thames from Vauxhall with Westminster Bridge by Joseph Mallord William Turner was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June last year. The price achieved of GBP 378,000.00 (€ 439,128.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Mallord William Turner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, From Mount Aventine in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 30,322,500.00 (€ 39,035,113.21).
