Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Medicine Pipe Ceremony of the Thunder Bird, Blackfeet by Joseph Henry Sharp was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 12,575.00 (€ 10,796.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Henry Sharp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Medicine Teepee in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,497,000.00 (€ 962,082.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Medicine Pipe Ceremony of the Thunder Bird, Blackfeet von Joseph Henry Sharp im Oktober 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 12.575,00 (€ 10.796,77) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Henry Sharp erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Medicine Teepee im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.497.000,00 (€ 962.082,26).
