The work Red Desert by José Joya was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2017. It achieved a price of HKD 975,000.00 (€ 115,084.90), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. Admittedly, works by José Joya have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Elysium in May 2017 with an auction result of HKD 5,100,000.00 (€ 582,351.37).

Die Arbeit Red Desert von José Joya wurde im April 2017 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 975.000,00 (€ 115.084,90) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 63%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von José Joya auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Elysium im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.100.000,00 (€ 582.351,37).
