Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Church Tower Seen From An Orchard, Probably St. Mary'S, Beddington by Jonathan Skelton was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,800.00 – 2,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,974.67). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jonathan Skelton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Ponte Lucano and the Tomb of the Plautii, Rome, which sold at auction in December 2012 for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,707.99).
