This artwork by John Whorf achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2017. In the American Art auction, the work White Boats In The Sun, Boys Fishing sold for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,620.47) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Whorf - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On The Dunes, which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Whorf erzielte im April 2017 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit White Boats In The Sun, Boys Fishing für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.620,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Whorf mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit On The Dunes beobachtet, die im März 2007 für USD 51.000,00 (€ 38.133,69) versteigert wurde.
