Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Whorf could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in July 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Backyards changed hands for USD 1,912.50 (€ 1,624.34) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Whorf achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On The Dunes in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Whorf konnte im Juli 2020 bei Bonhams in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit Backyards für USD 1.912,50 (€ 1.624,34) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Whorf erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On The Dunes im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.000,00 (€ 38.133,69).
