Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A Light on the Sea by John Whorf was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in November 2020. It achieved a price of USD 7,012.50 (€ 5,869.18), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. Admittedly, works by John Whorf have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On The Dunes in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 7.012,50 (€ 5.869,18) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 17%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Whorf auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit On The Dunes im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.000,00 (€ 38.133,69).
