Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts held the auction American Works of Art, which included the work Mountain Landscape, Spring by John Whorf. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of USD 892.50 (€ 912.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Whorf achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On The Dunes in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts die Auktion American Works of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mountain Landscape, Spring von John Whorf zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 892,50 (€ 912,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Whorf erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On The Dunes im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.000,00 (€ 38.133,69).
