This artwork by John Whorf achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2016. In the Living with Art auction, the work Dockworkers sold for USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,403.03) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Whorf - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On The Dunes, which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 51,000.00 (€ 38,133.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Whorf erzielte im Oktober 2016 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Living with Art wurde die Arbeit Dockworkers für USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.403,03) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Whorf mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit On The Dunes beobachtet, die im März 2007 für USD 51.000,00 (€ 38.133,69) versteigert wurde.
