Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2019 Christies in London held the auction IN THE FIELD - An Important Private Collection of Sporting Art, which included the work Cowes by John Strickland Goodall. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,329.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Strickland Goodall have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Britishthe Tennis Party; Tennis On A Summer'S Afternoon in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,169.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion IN THE FIELD - An Important Private Collection of Sporting Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cowes von John Strickland Goodall zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.329,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Strickland Goodall auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Britishthe Tennis Party; Tennis On A Summer'S Afternoon im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 7.169,86).
