Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations, which included the work An afternoon spent in the book shop by John Strickland Goodall. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 540.00 (€ 802.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Strickland Goodall have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Britishthe Tennis Party; Tennis On A Summer'S Afternoon in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,169.86).
