Auction result well in line with expectations

The work An Australian Gulley by John Skinner Prout was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,327.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Skinner Prout achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tom Thumb's Lagoon, 1844 in November 2020 with an auction result of AUD 55,350.00 (€ 46,325.74).
