This artwork by John Skinner Prout achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2007. In the Travel & Natural History auction, the work Aboriginal family in a fern Valley sold for GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,178.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Skinner Prout achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tom Thumb's Lagoon, 1844 in November 2020 with an auction result of AUD 55,350.00 (€ 46,325.74).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Skinner Prout erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tom Thumb's Lagoon, 1844 im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 55.350,00 (€ 46.325,74).
