Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2000 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Figures in a Continental street by John Skinner Prout. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 646.25 (€ 1,104.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Skinner Prout achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tom Thumb's Lagoon, 1844 in November 2020 with an auction result of AUD 55,350.00 (€ 46,325.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures in a Continental street von John Skinner Prout zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 646,25 (€ 1.104,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Skinner Prout erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tom Thumb's Lagoon, 1844 im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 55.350,00 (€ 46.325,74).
