In May 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Mrs. William George Raphael by John Singer Sargent for USD 867,000.00 (€ 711,005.41). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Singer Sargent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work San Geremia in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,087,500.00 (€ 7,787,060.84).
