Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Olive and Cypress by John Singer Sargent was sold in the 19th Century American Art auction at Christies in New York in January this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 27,720.00 (€ 25,529.56). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Singer Sargent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work San Geremia in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,087,500.00 (€ 7,787,060.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Olive and Cypress von John Singer Sargent wurde im Januar diesen Jahres in der Auktion 19th Century American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 27.720,00 (€ 25.529,56) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Singer Sargent erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit San Geremia im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.087.500,00 (€ 7.787.060,84).
