Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Angela McInnes, later Angela Thirkell, granddaughter of Sir Edward Burne-Jones by John Singer Sargent was auctioned at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 50,400.00 (€ 60,186.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Singer Sargent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work San Geremia in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,087,500.00 (€ 7,787,060.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Angela McInnes, later Angela Thirkell, granddaughter of Sir Edward Burne-Jones von John Singer Sargent kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 50.400,00 (€ 60.186,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Singer Sargent erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit San Geremia im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.087.500,00 (€ 7.787.060,84).
