Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work The cake in danger by John Russell. It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,008.15) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Russell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans in November 2020 with an auction result of EUR 45,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit The cake in danger von John Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 4.008,15) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Russell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 45.500,00.
