Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2015 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Study Of George White, Bust-Length, As Saint John The Baptist by John Russell. The result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,715.90) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Russell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans in November 2020 with an auction result of EUR 45,500.00.
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study Of George White, Bust-Length, As Saint John The Baptist von John Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.715,90) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Russell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 45.500,00.
