Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Portrait of Sir John Frederick, 5th Bt. (1750-1825), of Burwood Park, Walton-on-Thames, in a blue coat with powdered hair; and Portrait of Lady Frederick, née Mary Garth (d. 1794), in a white muslin dress with black lace cloak by John Russell. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,329.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans, which sold at auction in November 2020 for EUR 45,500.00.

(1750-1825), of Burwood Park, Walton-on-Thames, in a blue coat with powdered hair; and Portrait of Lady Frederick, née Mary Garth (d. 1794), in a white muslin dress with black lace cloak von John Russell zur Versteigerung kam.
