Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Setting Out; Tally Ho!; Full Cry; And The Kill by John Nost Sartorius was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,817.65). Admittedly, works by John Nost Sartorius have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Run with Mr. James Drake Brockman's hounds at Beachborough, Kent: Leaving the Kennels, Underhill, Shornecliffe; Going to Covert; Gone Away; Full Cry; The Death - Treeing the Fox; and The Return Home in June 2004 with an auction result of USD 107,550.00 (€ 88,307.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Setting Out; Tally Ho!; Full Cry; And The Kill von John Nost Sartorius im Mai 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.817,65) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Nost Sartorius auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Run with Mr. James Drake Brockman's hounds at Beachborough, Kent: Leaving the Kennels, Underhill, Shornecliffe; Going to Covert; Gone Away; Full Cry; The Death - Treeing the Fox; and The Return Home im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 107.550,00 (€ 88.307,74).
