Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Full Cry by John Nost Sartorius was sold in the European Art auction at Christies in New York in February this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,760.00 (€ 30,899.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Nost Sartorius - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Run with Mr. James Drake Brockman's hounds at Beachborough, Kent: Leaving the Kennels, Underhill, Shornecliffe; Going to Covert; Gone Away; Full Cry; The Death - Treeing the Fox; and The Return Home, which sold at auction in June 2004 for USD 107,550.00 (€ 88,307.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Full Cry von John Nost Sartorius wurde im Februar diesen Jahres in der Auktion European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.760,00 (€ 30.899,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Nost Sartorius mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Run with Mr. James Drake Brockman's hounds at Beachborough, Kent: Leaving the Kennels, Underhill, Shornecliffe; Going to Covert; Gone Away; Full Cry; The Death - Treeing the Fox; and The Return Home beobachtet, die im Juni 2004 für USD 107.550,00 (€ 88.307,74) versteigert wurde.
