Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish & Sporting Pictures, which included the work The Young Fishergirl; Breaking Waves by John McGhie. The price achieved of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 14,725.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John McGhie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work By the sea, which sold at auction in October 2003 for GBP 23,900.00 (€ 34,908.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish & Sporting Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Young Fishergirl; Breaking Waves von John McGhie zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 11.875,00 (€ 14.725,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John McGhie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit By the sea beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für GBP 23.900,00 (€ 34.908,12) versteigert wurde.
