In May last year Bonhams in Edinburgh held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work On the rocks by John McGhie. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,199.93), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John McGhie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work By the sea in October 2003 with an auction result of GBP 23,900.00 (€ 34,908.12).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Edinburgh die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit On the rocks von John McGhie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.020,00 (€ 1.199,93) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John McGhie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit By the sea im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.900,00 (€ 34.908,12).
