Sold at the upper estimate price
In August 2006 Sothebys in London held the auction Gleneagles Pictures, which included the work Fisher Girl by John McGhie. The auction ended at the price of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,922.38), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John McGhie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work By the sea, which sold at auction in October 2003 for GBP 23,900.00 (€ 34,908.12).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im August 2006 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Gleneagles Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fisher Girl von John McGhie zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 8.922,38) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John McGhie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit By the sea beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für GBP 23.900,00 (€ 34.908,12) versteigert wurde.
