Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction A Thousand Roads: A Private Collection in Rome, which included the work Kissing Couple by John Melville. It changed hands for a price of EUR 11,875.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Other works by John Melville have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2019 the work Chairs was auctioned for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,549.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion A Thousand Roads: A Private Collection in Rome durch, in der auch die Arbeit Kissing Couple von John Melville zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 11.875,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von John Melville konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im November 2019 die Arbeit Chairs für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.549,28) versteigert.
