Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2006 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art including The Studio of Humphrey Jennings, which included the work Female With Bonnet; And A Seated Nude by John Melville. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 420.00 (€ 614.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Melville achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chairs in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,549.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art including The Studio of Humphrey Jennings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Female With Bonnet; And A Seated Nude von John Melville zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 420,00 (€ 614,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Melville erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chairs im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.549,28).
