The work Girl with Fruit by John Melville was sold in the Twentieth Century British Art auction at Christies in London in July 2003. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 998.75 (€ 1,305.43), 43% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Melville achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chairs in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,549.28).

Die Arbeit Girl with Fruit von John Melville wurde im Juli 2003 in der Auktion Twentieth Century British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 998,75 (€ 1.305,43) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Melville erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chairs im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.549,28).
