The »bidding war« ended at GBP 998.75 (€ 1,305.43), 43% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Melville achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chairs in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,549.28).
