This artwork by John Martin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. In the Master Drawings auction, the work The Celestial City sold for USD 47,500.00 (€ 43,851.55) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,725,000.00 (€ 3,863,134.75).

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.725.000,00 (€ 3.863.134,75).
