Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Alexander visiting Diogenes by John Martin was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,737.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,725,000.00 (€ 3,863,134.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Alexander visiting Diogenes von John Martin kam im Juli 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 16.737,70) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Martin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.725.000,00 (€ 3.863.134,75).
