Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Illustrations to The adventures of Mr Ledbury (one illustrated) by John Leech was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental auction at Christies in London in December 2005. The price achieved of GBP 480.00 (€ 696.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Admittedly, works by John Leech have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,440.84).
