Despite a disappointment, a good price for John Leech
When the work Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself by John Leech was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,440.84). Despite this disappointing result, Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself is the most expensive artwork by John Leech that we have observed at auction so far.
