In July 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work 'The husband as he ought to be' (illustrated); and 'As he ought not to be' by John Leech. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,062.50 (€ 1,349.92), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Leech have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,440.84).

Im Juli 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'The husband as he ought to be' (illustrated); and 'As he ought not to be' von John Leech zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.062,50 (€ 1.349,92) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Leech auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.500,00 (€ 5.440,84).
