Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Leech could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental auction, the work Consolation changed hands for GBP 240.00 (€ 348.35) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Leech achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,440.84).
