Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by John Leech achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2004. In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work 'A great liberty'; and At the seaside (both illustrated) sold for GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,706.01) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Leech - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself, which sold at auction in November 2008 for GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,440.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Leech erzielte im Dezember 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book wurde die Arbeit 'A great liberty'; and At the seaside (both illustrated) für GBP 1.912,00 (€ 2.706,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 700,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Leech mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mr Briggs Taming A Colt Which He Has Bred Himself beobachtet, die im November 2008 für GBP 4.500,00 (€ 5.440,84) versteigert wurde.
