The work Alhambra: Tiled Courtyard; Alhambra: Red Archway 94 x 101 cm. (37 x 39 3/4 in.); 91.5 x 101 cm. (35 13/16 x 39 3/4 in.) by John Hubbard was sold in the Modern British and Irish Art auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in July this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,096.00 (€ 4,778.79), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Hubbard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shah Nameh Landscape overall, in two parts in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 20,062.50 (€ 22,122.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Alhambra: Tiled Courtyard; Alhambra: Red Archway 94 x 101 cm. (37 x 39 3/4 in.); 91.5 x 101 cm. (35 13/16 x 39 3/4 in.) von John Hubbard wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.096,00 (€ 4.778,79) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Hubbard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shah Nameh Landscape overall, in two parts im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.062,50 (€ 22.122,17).
