Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of John Eardley, half-length, in a blue coat by John Hoppner. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,562.50 (€ 3,955.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hoppner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 96,044.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of John Eardley, half-length, in a blue coat von John Hoppner zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.562,50 (€ 3.955,85) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Hoppner erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.900,00 (€ 96.044,73).
