Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Christies held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Portrait of the Hughes-Hallett children, standing, in a landcsape by John Hoppner. The price achieved of USD 25,000.00 (€ 21,641.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Hoppner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 96,044.73).
